In their attempts to spread communism, they realized that when they spread into these countries, they might not have control over the population. They began to develop their own military forces, so that they could have a military force and to keep control over these countries. Eventually, they got into the Vietnam War with the United States, and a lot of different governments began fighting with each other, since the United States did not want the communist movement to take over these countries, and it was more of a civil war.In Vietnam, the United States wanted to keep the communist forces out and the military forces that they already had in the United States. So they had the massive air force base in Europe and in the United States, and they needed to be able to reach these countries quickly. In fact, they sent out a military force to try to stop the expansion of communism, because if they didn't, the Soviet Union would get there and then there would be no stopping them.They are there trying to establish a foothold, and they see the United States as the ultimate solution, so they looked for all possible solutions. One of their strategies was to turn a major portion of the population of Vietnam against the United States. Then they would send out a thousand troops to intervene in a c ivil war there.It would take them a while, but eventually they were able to invade in that southern part of the country. When they got there, they found that it was a lot different from what they expected. Instead of dealing with people that didn't want to accept communism, they found that they were a society that was willing to accept communism and they built a force of communists and later on, they turned the whole population of Vietnam into communists as well.Well, the United States was able to defeat that Soviet forces, but because of the potential employers that were down there, the communist movement started there again.
